# Range Rover Electric first drives: what its three range figures measure, and what a charge costs

The first reviews of the electric Range Rover appeared on 20–22 October, but none published a measured consumption figure. That leaves buyers with Land Rover's own numbers: 372 miles WLTP, 333 miles on its own route and on its US test, and a 118.5 kWh battery that costs about £22 to take from 10 to 80% at the UK capped home rate.

## Do the first drives tell me how far the electric Range Rover really goes?

Not yet. The reviews published on 20–22 October gave impressions, not measured consumption, so the figures available are still Land Rover's: 372 miles WLTP and 333 miles on its own route in the UK and its own EPA-procedure test in the US. Land Rover engineers told reviewers to expect roughly 300–330 miles in everyday use.

## What to know before ordering

1. 372 miles is the WLTP figure; 333 miles (535 km) is Land Rover's UK standardised-route figure and also its US EPA-procedure result, which the EPA had not run itself at launch.
2. A 10–80% charge adds about 83 kWh: roughly £22 at the October–December 2026 UK capped home rate, or about 9.4p a mile at 2.8 miles per kWh.
3. The 22-minute rapid charge needs a 350 kW charger; Auto Express quotes 38 minutes on a 150 kW unit.
4. Braked towing is 2,500 kg, below the plug-in hybrid's 3,000 kg.

## What the first drives added

Land Rover opened orders for the Range Rover Electric on 2 September 2026. It has two 260 kW motors, up to 550 PS, and a 118.5 kWh usable battery on an 800-volt system, and it is built at Solihull. [1][7]

The first reviews followed between 20 and 22 October. Electrifying.com and Auto Express drove the car on and off road in Scotland, and Auto Express said range seemed to hold up, but neither published a consumption or range figure from its own driving. InsideEVs, writing for US readers, also relied on Land Rover's figures. [3][4][5]

So the first drives settle questions about refinement and off-road ability, not range. Independent measured tests are still to come. [3][4]

## Three range figures, one battery

Land Rover's UK release gives up to 372 miles on WLTP and up to 333 miles (535 km) as a real-world figure from a production car driven over a standardised route. Its US release gives the same 333 miles as an EPA figure, from Land Rover's own tests under US rules. [1][2]

Jalopnik reported at launch that the EPA had not yet tested the car itself. Its figure is therefore a maker's result under the EPA procedure, not an agency measurement. [6]

The numbers have already been mixed up across markets. Australian coverage of the A$317,718 launch price listed 535 km as the WLTP range, although Land Rover gives 535 km as the route figure and 372 miles WLTP. Engineers told Electrifying.com to expect roughly 300–330 miles in everyday driving, and told Auto Express about 330 miles. [1][3][4][8]

## Charging: what 22 minutes needs

Land Rover quotes 10–80% in about 22 minutes at the car's maximum charging rate, on a 350 kW public charger. In 10 minutes it claims 137 miles on WLTP in the UK, or 125 miles on its US EPA-procedure figure. [1][2]

On a 150 kW charger, Auto Express lists 38 minutes for the same 10–80%. Electrifying.com reports that the pack splits into two 400-volt halves that charge in parallel on older 400-volt units, and that 22 kW AC charging is standard. [3][4]

At home, 10–80% is 70% of 118.5 kWh, or about 83 kWh into the pack. At a full 7 kW that is roughly 12 hours before losses. Auto Express quotes 19 hours for 10–80% on a 7 kW wallbox, and Electrifying.com estimates 17–20 hours from nearly empty. Charjin could not find the basis for the longer Auto Express figure. [1][3][4]

## A worked cost at UK home rates

Ofgem's cap for 1 October to 31 December 2026 puts the average electricity unit rate at 26.32p per kWh on direct debit. The 83 kWh of a 10–80% charge therefore costs about £22 before charging losses and the 54.83p daily standing charge. [9][1]

Auto Express gives the car's WLTP efficiency as up to 2.8 miles per kWh, and Land Rover's 333-mile figure from 118.5 kWh works out at the same. At 2.8 miles per kWh the capped rate is about 9.4p a mile, or roughly £940 for 10,000 miles before losses. A cheaper overnight tariff lowers that in proportion. [3][1][9]

## Price, towing and what to check

Land Rover lists the car from £154,070 on the road in the UK and from $138,000 MSRP in the US. Jalopnik puts the US SE at $140,450 with destination, the same as the V8 SE, and Electrek reported the same starting price. Auto Express's price table starts at £154,650, which Charjin could not reconcile with Land Rover's figure. [1][2][6][7][3]

Auto Express lists a 2,810 kg kerb weight and a 2,500 kg braked towing limit, against 3,000 kg for the plug-in hybrid. Land Rover covers the propulsion system for eight years or 100,000 miles, with terms varying by market. [3][1]

Delivery dates are not confirmed. Australian deliveries are expected in 2027, and Land Rover had not given a US date at launch. Before ordering, check the towing figure against what you pull and whether nearby rapid chargers deliver 350 kW. [8][6]

## Common questions

**Is 333 miles an EPA-tested range?**

It is Land Rover's result from tests run under the US EPA procedure. Jalopnik reported at launch that the EPA had not tested the car itself.

**How long does the Range Rover Electric take to charge?**

Land Rover claims 10–80% in about 22 minutes on a 350 kW charger. For the same 10–80%, Auto Express lists 38 minutes on a 150 kW charger and 19 hours on a 7 kW wallbox.

**Can it tow as much as the hybrid Range Rover?**

No. Auto Express lists 2,500 kg braked for the electric car and 3,000 kg for the plug-in hybrid.
