Market or version specificIs the Audi Q4 e-tron worth considering?
Our view. The updated Q4 e-tron claims up to 563 km WLTP and around 27–29 minutes for a 10–80% charge, with a five-star Euro NCAP rating reconfirmed in 2025. Independent tests so far cover earlier versions and show real consumption well above the official figures, so expect noticeably less range than the brochure, especially on motorways and in winter.

Range
- Green NCAP Green NCAP 2022 assessment, June 2022
420 km
Local check neededAudi Q4 Sportback 50 e-tron quattro, 220 kW, 76.6 kWh declared. Normal real-world driving with low climate demand: about 420 km; cold winter conditions: about 270 km; motorway at 23 °C: about 290 km. Green NCAP rated the car five stars; the winter and motorway figures show how much range drops outside mild conditions. No WLTP figure for this exact version was confirmed, so official is null.
Efficiency
- ADAC ADAC electric car consumption test (method from January 2026), April 2026
21.2 kWh/100 km vs 16.6 kWh/100 km WLTP
Falls short · 78% Published referenceAudi Q4 40 e-tron advanced, 63 kWh gross / 59 kWh net (pre-update model). ADAC mixed driving profile, consumption including AC charging losses (22 kW wallbox, 23 °C); ADAC range 305 km. ADAC's figure includes charging losses, so it is not directly comparable with the WLTP value, but it suggests real use about 28% higher; this is the version sold before the 2026 update.
- ADAC ADAC Ecotest (method to December 2025), June 2024
20.4 kWh/100 km vs 16 kWh/100 km WLTP
Falls short · 78% Market or version specificAudi Q4 Sportback 45 e-tron advanced, 82 kWh gross / 77 kWh net. ADAC Ecotest cycle, consumption including AC charging losses; ADAC Ecotest range 425 km. Sportback body and pre-update drivetrain; ADAC says results from before 2026 are not directly comparable with its newer tests.
Rapid charging
- NAF NAF and Motor El Prix summer test 2022, charging, June 2022
37 min 10–80%
Market or version specificAudi Q4 e-tron 40 (2022, 77 kWh net, 150 kW). Summer, Norway; NAF's table labels the result 10–80% (37 min against 38 min claimed, peak 127 kW against 125 kW claimed), but its text describes the session as 4–80% in 37 min 7 s. Charging matched Audi's claim for the original Q4 40; the 2026 update claims much faster charging (27–29 min), which has not yet been independently checked. Official set to null because NAF's charging window is described inconsistently. Month of the summer test is approximate.

What to check before buying
- Who is it for?
- Buyers who want a compact premium electric SUV with a usable boot (515 litres) and the option of all-wheel drive and a 1,800 kg tow rating on quattro versions.
- What needs checking?
- Which battery and drive you are buying, as range and charging speed differ a lot between versions. Independent tests of the 2026 update were not yet found, and US versions use different names and EPA figures.
- What is the evidence?
- Audi's own data sheets, US EPA figures, ADAC consumption tests, a NAF charging test, a Green NCAP range test, Euro NCAP ratings from 2021 and 2025, and NHTSA recall records.
