Is the Kia EV6 worth considering?

Our view. Fast charging is the EV6's strength, although NAF's winter test of the earlier car took 35 minutes against Kia's 18-minute claim. ADAC measured 20.1 kWh/100 km on the facelifted 84 kWh rear-wheel-drive car against 15.9 WLTP, so expect around 460 km rather than 582 km in mixed European driving; Edmunds beat the EPA figure on its slower US route.

What to check before buying

Who is it for?
Drivers who cover long distances and want short charging stops, in a roomy car with a lower roofline than a typical SUV.
What needs checking?
NAF's range and charging tests are of the 2021–2022 car with the 77.4 kWh battery, not the current 84 kWh car. In the US, 2022–2024 cars have recalls for the integrated charging control unit and for battery cells that could catch fire; check the work has been done. Kia's German and Irish sites give different WLTP consumption figures.
What is the evidence?
Official figures from Kia Germany and Ireland and fueleconomy.gov, NAF winter and summer range tests and a winter charging test, the ADAC Autotest and Ecotest, the Edmunds range test, Euro NCAP and the NHTSA recall database.
