Is the BYD Sealion 7 worth considering?

Our view. ADAC measured 24.1 kWh/100 km on the Excellence AWD against 21.9 kWh/100 km WLTP, which works out at about 430 km instead of the official 502 km, and NAF's charging test matched BYD's 24-minute 10–80% claim. The 82.5 kWh versions charge at a lower 150 kW and take a claimed 32 minutes, so check which version you are offered.

What to check before buying

Who is it for?
Buyers who want a large electric family SUV with fast charging on the top version and a 1,500 kg braked towing limit on the four-wheel-drive versions.
What needs checking?
Which battery and charging speed the car has: only the Excellence AWD has the 91.3 kWh battery and 230 kW charging. No recall record could be checked, as BYD does not sell the car in the US and the UK DVSA recall checker could not be read.
What is the evidence?
An ADAC Autotest and Ecotest of the Excellence AWD (February 2026), a NAF summer charging test (2025) and a Euro NCAP five-star rating (2025).
