Our view. ADAC's Ecotest of the 2023–2026 ID.3 measured 16.3 to 19.2 kWh/100 km and 450 to 530 km of range, roughly 12 to 20 per cent below the official figures. The 2026 ID.3 Neo has new motors and higher official ranges but no independent test was found yet, so treat the older results as a guide only.

ADAC Ecotest cycle: air conditioning on, extra load, includes a motorway section; consumption includes charging losses. ADAC derives a 530 km Ecotest range against 605 km WLTP; the lowest consumption of the ID.3 versions ADAC tested, but this is the pre-2026 car.

19.2 kWh/100 km
Local check neededVW ID.3 Pro S four-seater, 170 kW, 77 kWh net (built 10/23–05/24). ADAC Ecotest cycle: air conditioning on, extra load, includes a motorway section; consumption includes charging losses. What to check before buying
- Who is it for?
- Buyers who want a five-door electric hatchback about the size of a Golf for daily commuting and occasional longer trips.
- What needs checking?
- Whether the car is the 2026 ID.3 Neo or an earlier ID.3, as batteries, motors and charging speeds differ. On the Neo, the 50 and 58 kWh versions charge at up to 105 kW, much slower than the 79 kWh version.
- What is the evidence?
- Official VW figures for the ID.3 Neo, ADAC Ecotest and charging results for the 2023–2026 ID.3, an older NAF winter test and the 2025 Euro NCAP reassessment. No independent test of the ID.3 Neo was found.
