Market or version specificIs the BMW iX1 worth considering?
Our view. In mild weather the iX1 gets close to its official range: NAF measured 420 km in summer against 428 km WLTP for a 2023 xDrive30, but only 338 km in a Norwegian winter, and ADAC's Ecotest gave 375 km. Charging is steady rather than fast at up to 130 kW, and the tests found cover the earlier xDrive30, not the 2026 eDrive20 with its higher official range.

What to check before buying
- Who is it for?
- Drivers who want a compact premium SUV with a 490-litre boot for daily and regional driving, and who can charge at home.
- What needs checking?
- Figures changed for 2026: BMW now lists 65.2 kWh and up to 516 km WLTP for the eDrive20, while earlier xDrive30 cars were rated at about 430–440 km. ADAC warns that on 50 kW CCS chargers with 125 A cables the iX1 may charge at only 30–38 kW.
- What is the evidence?
- Official WLTP figures from BMW Ireland and BMW UK, NAF summer and winter range tests and a charging test, the ADAC Ecotest and charging measurement, and Euro NCAP's 2022 BMW X1 rating, which covers the iX1. The iX1 is not sold in the US, so there are no EPA or NHTSA records.
