Our view. Edmunds' tests match the EPA figures closely, with a 2025 Premium AWD at 301 miles against 300, and NAF measured 18% below WLTP on a 2021 extended-range car in mild Norwegian winter weather. Charging is the weak point: Ford quotes about 32 minutes for 10–80%, NAF needed 45 minutes on an early car, and the recall list is long.

What to check before buying
- Who is it for?
- Buyers who want a five-seat electric SUV with real-world range close to its EPA rating and who mostly charge at home.
- What needs checking?
- NHTSA lists 22 recall campaigns for 2021–2026 cars, including high-voltage battery contactors on 2021–2022 cars, park-mode faults, door latches with a flat 12 V battery and a rear differential fault on 2021–2023 cars; check the work has been done. The NAF tests are on 2021–2022 cars.
- What is the evidence?
- EPA figures from fueleconomy.gov, Ford's US and UK sites, Edmunds range tests, NAF winter and summer range tests and a charging test, Euro NCAP, NHTSA crash ratings and the NHTSA recall database. Car and Driver says it has not run its 75 mph range test on a Mach-E.
