Is the Xiaomi SU7 worth considering?

Our view. Xiaomi's official figures are strong, with up to 902 km on the Chinese CLTC cycle and 10–80% charging in as little as 12 minutes for the Max, but CLTC results are not comparable with WLTP or EPA figures. No independent range, charging or crash test from NAF, ADAC, Euro NCAP, Edmunds or Car and Driver was found, so real-world performance is unconfirmed.

What independent tests found

No independent test of the Xiaomi SU7 has been recorded yet. The figures above are the manufacturer’s.

How far can it go?

The published reference is 720–902 km. CLTC, Xiaomi's official China configuration page for the new-generation SU7 (the official basis for this car): 720 km SU7, 902 km SU7 Pro, 835 km SU7 Max, all on 19-inch wheels; 20- and 21-inch wheels cut this to 630–805 km. CLTC figures are not converted to WLTP or EPA here. Compare it only with figures from the same test cycle.

Speed, temperature, wind, elevation, tyres, load and cabin heating or cooling all change real-world range. How EPA, WLTP and CLTC differ.

How quickly does it charge?

The highest published DC figure is 10–80% in 12–21 minutes claimed. Xiaomi claims 10–80% in 20 minutes (SU7), 21 minutes (Pro) and 12 minutes (Max), with peak charge rates of 3.5C and 5.2C respectively and 752 V or 897 V peak voltage. No peak kW figure is given.. A peak rate is reached briefly; the average across a session is lower.

Home charging time depends on the energy added, the car’s AC limit, the charger and the supply. Estimate a session with this car’s battery.

What to check before buying

Who is it for?
Buyers in China who want a large, fast-charging electric saloon with a 493-litre boot and a 105-litre front boot.
What needs checking?
All official figures are CLTC, which is not comparable with WLTP or EPA, and these figures are for the new generation; a first-generation SU7 has been on sale since 2024. Check which generation and version a car is.
What is the evidence?
Only Xiaomi's official CLTC figures. No NAF, ADAC, Euro NCAP, Edmunds, Car and Driver, EPA or NHTSA record was found for the SU7.

Evidence record

4 figures, each linked to where it starts. A published value is not automatically the right value for every trim or country.
